It sports a Z-hinge design with 135-degree opening to look even slimmer than it already is, and other features are: LED backlight LCD display, ExpressCard slot with hot-swapping, USB Sleep-and-Charge/eSATA Combo Port, Windows Vista Business operating system, 3GB memory, 160GB storage space, DVD burner, wireless draft N support, Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate, built-in web camera for video conferences, and microphone.

Overview: Toshiba Satellite E105

Toshiba today unveiled the Satellite E105, a newly designed 14.1-inch laptop, exclusively available at Best Buy stores.

The offered model - the E105-S1402 - is based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 processor technology and comes with the Core 2 Duo P8400 CPU at 2.26GHz, the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB hard drive, and DVD burner. The display has a resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels.

There are also built-in web camera and fingerprint reader, a backlit keyboard, 802.11 a/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, an HDMI output, two USB ports (one shared with eSATA), and a 5-in-1 media card reader. BestBuy also lists an FM radio module in the product specifications.

According to Toshiba’s press release, the Satellite E105 offers up to 5.5 hours of battery life.

The 5-pound laptop has a finish with copper tones and is 1.2-inch thin.

The Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit powered Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402 costs $1,199.99 with an extended 2-year manufacturer warranty.

Overview: Toshiba Satellite Pro S300

In addition to the introduction of Satellite Pro S300, Toshiba Satellite updates include the Satellite Pro S300M model, both coming with a 2-year warranty.

Built on the idea of providing ultimate mobile functionalities in affordable systems, the two new laptops are equipped with docking, PC Health Monitor, Business Card Reader and Face Recognition software among others.
The EasyGuard Technology that enables the PC Health Monitor is in charge with checking critical hardware components and alerting the user of the encountered issues. Such system components include the hard drive, battery, processor temperature and internal cooling. O the outside, this technology set adds spill-resistant keyboard, fingerprint sensor and the Trusted Platform Module encryption.

The 14.1-inch Toshiba Satellite Pro S300M with TruBrite display technology delivers the same main elements of the other model but in a smaller form factor, starting at $899.

Overview: E105 Toshiba Satellite

Will Toshiba be the next company that will release a laptop computer equipped with the longest laptop battery life comparable with Dell Latitude E6400’s 19 hours and HP EliteBook 6930p’s 24 hours battery? At the moment we can’t guess that, but the company has just released a new laptop model on the market offering 5.5 hours of continuous operating time, which will be available exclusively at Best Buy for the US customers.

This collaboration will bring the Toshiba Satellite E105, a 14.1-inch laptop with a stylish design sporting a trendy metallic finish, inspired by the store’s customers and Toshiba market research results.
According to the surveys, people have a big picture of their ideal laptop, and this should have a longer battery life, thin and lightweight design, long warranty, and backlight for the keyboard for low light conditions. I like how these sound, because these are the aspects I think of when searching for a notebook computer.



Toshiba Satellite E105 weights 5 pounds, is 1.2 inches thin and very slim. It actually looks great for both women and men, plus that it comes with a 2-year international warranty, 30 days Geek Squad support, and 15 months of Norton Anti Virus protection.

Overview: Toshiba Satellite NB105

Toshiba Mexico has revealed the company’s first netbook - the Satellite NB105.

The Toshiba Satellite NB105 features a 8.9-inch 1024×600 LED backlight display, Intel’s Atom processor at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, the GMA 950 integrated graphics, a built-in web camera, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, three USB ports, and an SD card slot. The NB105 runs Windows XP operating system.

Toshiba’s mini-laptop will be available in November in Mexico. There is no information on pricing and US availability.

Conclusion

One of Toshiba's traits that always puzzles me is that they always stop short of making the unequivocally killer product. Last year they delivered the X200 - arguably the first mainstream gaming notebook - with its two 8700m GPUs that came up short against the cheaper and much faster Gateway P-6831FX. It's my perception that as good as their notebooks are; they tend to the more conservative end of the excite-o-meter.

The A300-02C doesn't deviate from this pattern. It is not cheap - $1,000 is a far cry from entry level in 2008. A brand name isn't enough to justify a premium anymore - therefore I think it was a mistake not to spec DDR3 system memory and GDDR3 video memory. I understand that it takes balance and compromise to deliver a competitive product but performance features are omitted here that would distance this notebook from its competitors and more importantly last year's models that are being marked down right now.

A similarly performing Gateway can be had for $100-250 less using last year's CPU (T5750) and GPU (RADEON HD 2600) and some lucky folks are walking out of Best Buy with clearance models at half the price of the A300-02C and about 90-95% of the performance.

In addition to the performance features left off, important portability features like a larger capacity battery are also missing. If this notebook is not targeted to gamers on the run, then it should at least include a proper battery. Poor battery life is only excusable when performance is very strong.

Like so many of the Toshiba notebooks I have reviewed, the A300-02C is good. Still, it's not the fastest, sleekest or best value notebook you will find.

Conclusion

The Toshiba L350 series notebook offers consumers an excellent budget desktop replacement notebook with a great deal of features for a low starting price of $749. As a mild refresh from the previous P200 series notebook the L350 gives you a slimmer and lighter body, as well as a smudge and scuff resistant matte paint finish.

Conclusion

The Satellite Pro L300 is a business savvy notebook. It doesn't have a glossy finish or any special features to make it stand out. What you see is what you get: a minimalistic, yet very functional notebook at a good price. The L300 comes with a good variety of ports, has a nice screen and a great keyboard. It is a little heavy and big to be a traveling companion in my opinion, but many business users like to watch movies or presentations while traveling and the 15.4" screen does it justice. Performance wise it gets the job done as well, I wouldn't expect to be gaming on the L300 much though.

Conclusion

The M700 is a solid tablet. You get what you see with it. There isn't anything fancy, just a minimalistic design with all the necessities. The silver body protects a great LED backlight screen that has both a touchscreen and active digitizer and it doesn't lack in performance or features. The hinge is definitely an added bonus because it locks the screen in place and gets rid of any wobble. Business professionals and college students should enjoy taking notes and giving presentations with the M700, especially considering it has such an affordable starting price.

A graphics powerhouse, this notebook from Toshiba is meant for supreme gaming experience , and it does not falter in the Multimedia department too. A viable option for the frag-addict, race curve bender, mass killing gamer, this tickles all our senses. Lets explore.


Design


The laptop comes in 2 colors, black and red. The product is given a flashy feel, and a marbled red black finish. The laptop looks quite decent for a gaming laptop, without any LEDs etc like in the case of Asus G1S. The bottom part of the product is pushed back slightly, which makes the case appear thinner than it actually is. The product is slightly inclined which assists in typing ease. Weighing at 3.9 kgs , which is a bit heavy, it can still be handled easily without any creaking noises. A 17” WSXGA screen with Truebrite surface, and a resolution of 1680x1050. A VGA, S-video, HDMI port line up the left side. 2 USB 2.0 on the left , and 4 on the right are sufficient for plug-n-play. Front has Microphone, SPDIF, line-in, headphone ports. A webcam of 1.3 MP is present on the screen frame. A HD DVD drive is more than enough to satisfy the current generation needs of media.


The keypad is of the standard type, with an extra numeric keypad provided. The key size is good enough for large fingered people too. The touchpad can be illuminated to blue by touching a button at top right corner, this highlights options engraved on the touchpad which can be used for various functions like browser, email etc. A switch for controlling the WLAN is provided , and the product also supports fingerprint reader which is easy to access.


Performance


The notebook completes the job of utilizing the potential of the system on the whole. Equipped with a Core-2-duo, 2 Gb RAM, 320 GB(160x2) hard disk, and an option between 8700M GT or 2 8600M GT Sli, the capabilities of the product are flawless. If you're shopping for a notebook with bordered funds, then the Toshiba Equium L40-17M makes a decent compromise between features, price and working capabilities. With a price tag of just £429.99 and it still manages to pack in decent punch with an impressive amount of options.


Design


Design-wise, this is not an ugly duckling but it looks very basic rather than modish. You won't be humiliated to take this notebook out of the house but your friends are very much unlikely to be drooling with resentment. The keyboard gives real good-sized keys for ease of typing and the overall layout is sagacious, although it's soft and squishy in use. Weighing at nearly 3kg, the L40-17M isn't the slim fit to carry around with you all the time even if its going to provide decent battery life. Connectivity options are sparse, with just 3 USB ports offered.


Performance

With a price tag that is sub-£500, you can't be expecting the latest high spec ingredients, but the L40-17M makes the highest of what it's stuffed up with. You get a dual-core Pentium chip, It also comes with a RAM space of 2GB, which is very generous and assist the combo achieve a PCMark05 score of 3,269.

Its 15.4-inch display offers a bountiful space to work on and it has a nearly customary widescreen resolution of 1,280x800 pixels, showing up for a decent desktop area. The hard drive storage capacity stretches up to 120GB, Which reasonable space even though this is not the biggest on offer. The internal DVD writer assists in making backups without any problem.

The Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8818, the first model in the newly designed Satellite P305D notebook PC series with 17-inch display and AMD’s processor, is available now.


The Satellite P305D-S8818 costs $899.99 after $50 mail-in rebate. It sports the AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core CPU at 2.1GHz, the ATI Radeon X1250 integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB hard drive spinning at 5,400rpm, DVD burner, harman/kardon stereo speakers and a built-in webcam with face recognition technology. The notebook’s 17″ display provides a resolution of 1440×900 pixels.


The laptop features the Atheros Wireless LAN with 802.11b/g support, an Ethernet port, and a 56k modem.

Review: Toshiba Portege R500

Toshiba yesterday announced the addition of a 128GB solid state drive (SSD) into the Portege R500 12.1-inch ultraportable laptop.


“Toshiba’s 2.4 pound Portege R500-S5007V is the world’s lightest laptop with a 128GB SSD and DVD SuperMulti drive and one of the world’s thinnest with a SSD and DVD SuperMulti drive,” the press release says.


Along with the 128GB Serial ATA SSD and DVD burner, the Toshiba Portege R500-S5007V features Intel’s Core 2 Duo U7700 ultra-low voltage processor at 1.33GHz, 2GB of RAM, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, a wireless module supporting 802.11n standard, Gigabit Ethernet port, and Bluetooth. Laptop’s 12.1″ display has a resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels and LED backlight.


According to Toshiba, the R500-S5007V has a battery life of “more than eight hours”.


The notebook runs Windows Vista operating system and has a MSRP of $2,999.
