Moreover, it has been chosen aluminum as the base for the exterior, while metallic threads are added on the cover, giving it an outstanding sense of fashion. The touchpad has an aerodynamic design and uses a simple black mirror plate as base and red linings to accentuate the slickness of the faceplate. The W, A, S and D buttons are colored, so that the player could find the direction controls in record time.

The MSI GX630 uses the new ECO engine power management to extend the battery running time while performing different tasks. On the other hand, if you touch the ECO quick launch sensor repeatedly you can switch among 5 different modes: Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Office and Turbo battery.

Review: MSI Turbobook GX600

The MSI Turbobook GX600 has a in built turbo button that the producer says can spontaneously boost its performance by as much as 20 per cent, and cut boot times by approximately 50 per cent. But does it really work? Are there any drawbacks? Let’s peep in to reveal the secrets of the revamped GX600.

Design

The Turbobook GX600 looks drooling with the hood closed. The lustrous black finish gives it a modern neat looks that is in line with what the rest of the competitors seem to be doing at the current time. Unexpectedly, it all goes to pot when you open the hood. The turbo button, dressed in the dodgy silver paneling and the off switch located at the top right of the notebook. Software is comparatively scarce, but you are provided with a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

Performance

With a tag like 'MSI Turbobook GX600', you'd look out for this notebook to be drastically quick. It does by no means can be compared to the fastest we've seen, especially when it comes to the gamer attitude, but it's fast enough to keep in line with the quickest Centrino notebooks on the market.

Its 3D gaming agility isn't as qualitative, though. It just scampered very little in 3DMark testing circuits, and striking the turbo button doesn’t make much difference with turbo enabled, it scores less impressive scores too. For a comparison, the current breeds of high-end gaming notebooks will score at around twice as much as the GX600.

The keyboard and mouse are designed to be a useful performer, but actually they're totally tricky to get to grips with. MSI also contains a 1.3-megapixel webcam just above the display, and an optional free view TV tuner card, sad to mention our review sample didn't contain the latter. Battery sprint life on the Turbobook GX600 isn't specifically inspiring, but then we never projected it to be. The sprinting pace just manages 1 hour 5 minutes in our intensive Battery Eater test.

Conclusion

The Turbobook GX600 is a jumbled bag. It's encouraging for anyone who does CPU-intensive work, as it’s over clocking feature works amazingly and vastly accelerates core performance. The GX 600 is a new kid with the old tag line.

Pros

+ Just as the same old GX-600.
+ 3MB Ram is good addition

Cons

- Turbo switch doesn’t boost much
- Battery life pathetic
- Gaming attitude is poor.

Review: MSI Megabook GX 600

[MSI+Megabook+GX+600.jpg]

The MSI Megabook GX 600 is almost entirely black. It looks stylish, not that ostentatious and interpret than the previously reviewed Megabook GX 700 with tremendous Gaming intend.

Design

The case of the MSI Megabook GX 600 is entirely completed of black plastics. Excluding of the bottom side, all components encompass a high-gloss surface. The honest shiny white MSI symbol at the rear side of the cover attracts interest. Regardless of being intended for computer games, this laptop does not require striking ornaments. So, it appears more highly regarded and due the high -gloss black finish extremely elegant. Therefore, you can catch it to school, work, or university without being documented as gaming freak at once.

Performance

The already revealed MSI Megabook GX 600 was planted with up-to-date expertise by Intel and NVIDIA. The central processing unit was a Core 2 Duo T9300 with 2.5 GHz clock-rate and 6 MB L2-Cache. This CPU utilizes the novel Penryn core and was shaped in the 45 nm technology. The parts of this arrangement are proscribed by an 800 MHz front-side bus. The chip set is a PM965 by Intel. So, this Megabook GX 600 powered with Penryn CPU is still a Santa Rosa age bracket laptop. An entirety of 3 GB DDR2-667 RAM is accessible. This advances the presentation, particularly, if you sprint current computer games.

If you fancy silent laptops, you won't like this Megabook GX600 much. Independent of the application load, the fan was always evidently audible. Compared to the GX 700 the GX600 is exceptionally good on the subject of temperature amplify. The calculated temperatures are visibly lower. The 2 red stereo speakers are placed left and right above the keyboard. An included Realtek sound chip controls audio output and input. The GX600 is planted with a Lithium Ions battery with a capability of 4800 mAh (about 52 WH). Regrettably, its runtime is not long.

Overall

All like the bigger MSI Megabook GX 700, which is planted with T7500 CPU, also the Megabook GX 600, which is planted with up-to-date hardware, e.g., a T9300 Penryn CPU, is certainly a high-quality 15.4 laptop with some insignificant flaws.

Pros

+ Stylish design
+ HDMI and eSATA port
+ Integral web cam
+ Lusterless display
+ Turbo Mode for escalating the presentation of the CPU

Cons

- Responsive surfaces
- Keyboard partially clatters
- Reasonable lighting of the display
- Low battery sprint time

Review: MSI Wind

[MSI+WIND.jpg]

The world of net books are exploding every moment, But the extent of the high end operating system which means there is no chance, because the price would spike up, But the MSI Wind with the Vista loaded on board spells something different, read on to reveal more.

Design

Almost all mini laptop producers are shunning Windows Vista, and manufacturers are whirling towards Windows XP or Linux. Some say it is for the reason that the operating system is a reduced amount of bloat and more authority efficient, while others declare it is just cheaper to buy. In view of the fact that I have had the frame of mind that Vista only requires a few mild tweaks before it suffers like an enhanced XP, I decided to pull the elicit and load Vista onto our MSI Wind.

Performance

MSI doesn't officially shore up Windows Vista on the Wind, and has no drivers particularly labeled for occupy in Vista. When I 1st stacked Vista onto our Wind, I was a bit troubled since the wireless LAN and wired LAN were not functioning from the initiate. Devoid of a network association you are in actual fact out of luck, so this was a make or break state of affairs. I bowed to the MSI driver site and strong-willed to give the XP drivers an inoculation, and turns out they work with no or any problem. Same goes for the wired LAN and then card reader drivers which are ultimately pulled in via Windows Update once I had an internet connection.

The next stride was getting the Intel GMA 950 running, which was as uncomplicated as pulling a driver pack from the Intel site. Audio drivers labored from the beginning, so now the laptop was good to go. An additional Vista perk was the ceaseless "wireless connection" class windows which would not impede popping up in XP by no means came up while running Vista. Either the drivers worked superior, or Vista just suppresses those communications. I was extremely happy to not have to agreement with closing those maddening pop-up messages any longer.

I anticipated battery life to be similar, if not a bit inferior than XP. Vista has more things always working in the backdrop, the system utilizes more of its RAM, and Vista is overstuffed right? Much to my shock, battery life turned out to be relatively enhanced under Vista: almost 20% healthier than Windows XP under the identical conditions.

Conclusion

While Windows Vista avails a lot of bad press these days, it isn't for all time the nastiest operating system choice for laptops. In our speedy testing of Windows Vista on the MSI Wind, not only did it provide us a pleasant bump in presentation, but we also gained precious battery life. For a packed together sub notebook you actually can't request for more, particularly on the battery life front. For now I believe Vista is here to hang about on our MSI Wind.

Pros

+ Battery life Enhanced
+ Compact notebook capable of Vista

Cons

- Definite drop in graphics quality
